Her voice was audibly impatient, the words very pointed and precise, the target utterly accurate and the analysis emphatically authentic and original.
She spoke with the knowledge and the confidence of a long standing fighter.
First she said that at the nearby Bethnal Green underground station, there had been a derailment. There are tapes all over the place, she said as she narrated what she had learnt.
But more important than that was her dislike of the [London] underground railway system [the Tube] on which she expanded at length!
I hate the tubes, she said.
She spoke as if she knew me. I didn’t know her.
But it didn’t stop either her from speaking to me with absolute clarity and ease nor did it stop me from missing the several buses that came along and went on…
I was very interested to hear her and also was fascinated to find that there did exist a person in Bethnal Green, East London, who was so disgusted with the tube, the local council and the way the holders of positions on the Council behaved…. I could not possibly miss this demonstration…

This was a woman with a wealth of knowledge about London…

Apart from her dislike of the Tube, she dislikes the local Council. Tower Hamlets Borough Council.

She said that she had heard that the Council had refused to re-house a seriously sick man….

And she spoke with disdain and contempt for that sort of behaviour by the Council.
Then she added, ‘you know, when you go to them, they do the opposite to what you want them to do…!’

We were having the conversation not all that far from the ‘Rich Mix’ centre, one of the many physical exhibitions of the stupidities that go on inside the operating group making the relevant promotions and the decisions on Tower Hamlets Council generally and in the controlling clique on that Council.

When I had arranged to meet someone briefly for a chat, I agreed to go inside the Rich Mix centre to have the chat over a cup of tea.

The staff who served was not able to recognise me. I was the person who paced the main order and attended to the tab. I was happy to. But the ‘rich mix centre’ was staffed by someone who thought I did not exist!

Now, how rich can the poverty of degeneration by Tower Hamlets Council get !
